Katy L. McCully is an associate in Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost's Fresno office, assisting clients with Labor & Employment, Governance & Leadership, Higher Education, and Litigation matters. She advises school districts and county offices of education statewide on matters relating to employee and student rights, and discrimination issues. Ms. McCully provides counsel on employment and labor issues including discipline, compliance, and responding to discrimination, harassment and retaliation complaints. Ms. McCully also advises school and community college districts in the areas of student matters, Public Records Act and Brown Act issues. In serving clients, she is focused on efficiency, with an interest on settlement when possible. Coming from a litigation background, Ms. McCully has experience at all levels of the trial process, both in state and federal court.
Ms. McCully was born and raised in California's Central Valley. Prior to joining Fagen, Friedman & Fulfrost, she worked in the areas of complex business transactions, estate and business planning, probate, conservatorship, guardianship and estate administration, trust and estate litigation, general civil litigation, business and real estate litigation, land use, and many aspects of probate and estate litigation. Most recently, Ms. McCully focused her practice on civil litigation, specializing in commercial, business and real estate litigation, and all bankruptcy matters.
While in law school, Ms. McCully served as a legal clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, performing legal research and preparing committee members for congressional hearings. Professional and community activities include membership in the Fresno County Bar Association, Fresno County Young Lawyers Association. Ms. McCully spends a significant amount of her free time serving in various leadership roles for the Junior League of Fresno, planning and organizing events related to health and education to benefit women and children in the Fresno area.
Ms. McCully earned her Juris Doctor at Baylor Law School and received a B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, at Westmont College. Ms. McCully is licensed as an attorney in both California and Texas, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
